The Paralympic and World fencing champion, one of sport’s personalities of the year 2016, will be in Cortina for the Ladies’ Alpine Ski World Cup on 28 and 29 January. This weekend at the foot of the Dolomites marks the debut of Fondazione Cortina 2021 as it organises its first event in preparation for the World Ski Championships in four years
Cortina d’Ampezzo, 25 January 2017 - Bebe Vio is one of the most extraordinary personalities in the world of sport who came to the fore in 2016. The memory of her uncontrollable joy, which she literally shouted to the world after the final thrust that gave her the Paralympic fencing title at Rio 2016, has gone down in history. On Sunday 29 January, she will be in the finish area of the Olympia course at the foot of the Tofane mountains to cheer on the Italian athletes and the other young downhill champions competing in the two races at the Ladies’ Alpine Ski World Cup.
“I’m thrilled to have been invited to the Ladies’ Alpine Ski World Cup competition in Cortina”, said Bebe Vio, adding: “I adore this resort and love coming here whenever I can. My only regret is that I’ve never skied here, but I hope to realise this dream soon, thanks to my friends in Cortina”.
With the Downhill and the Super G, the weekend will be packed with thrills, entertainment and a touch of glamour, as VIPs and highly prestigious partners all flock to the Ampezzo valley. They will be joined by the Italian media, leading international journalists and the top female athletes in the world who will battle it out on the Olympia delle Tofane course to earn themselves a place in the World Ski Championships in St. Moritz this February.
