Tina Weirather won the battle at today’s Audi FIS World Cup superG final race, topping the field, but Lara Gut won the war as her second place finish was enough to claim the superG Season Title.

Lara Gut only needed a top-six finish to overtake Lindsey Vonn in the superG season standings and she easily achieved that goal, finishing 0.41 seconds behind Weirather. The balance for Gut this season includes the superG globe, which she won for the second time in her career, in addition to the 2015/16 Overall Crystal Globe, which she will formally pick-up after the last race of the season on Sunday.

Third place on the day went to Austrian Cornelia Huetter, who was 0.59 seconds behind Weirather. Federica Brignone had today’s best Italian results with her 8th position.

With today’s result, the final season standings in the superG place Lara Gut at the top of the field, followed by Weirather and Vonn, who suffered an injury forcing her to miss the last crucial races of the season.

The Queens of Speed have the downhill and superG titles. For sure they will be ready to give us pure emotions along the Olympia delle Tofane slope!
