Apripista Cortina

Tomorrow morning at 11 am there will be the first test of the downhill in Cortina d'Ampezzo, round five of the specialty in the calendar of the Ladies' World Cup, scheduled for Saturday. This timed downhill was originally scheduled at the same time of the race (10:15), but it was postponed to allow athletes a more accurate inspection of the Olympia delle Tofane slope.

The Ampezzo race course is in perfect condition, it was tested yesterday by Kristian Ghedina and his cousin Francis, and again this morning by six other forerunners. Tomorrow there will be a beautiful sunny day, the same weather conditions expected till Sunday.

For the Italian team this test and the one of tomorrow will be valid also as a selection for the downhill race: Bassino and Pichler will be fighting for a bib, while it should be assured the participation of Nadia and Elena Fanchini, Merighetti, Marsaglia, Elena Curtoni, Stuffer, Goggia and Schnarf. For the superG on Sunday (11.30) are already confirmed nine athletes, as for the race two weeks ago in Zauchensee: Brignone, Nadia and Elena Fanchini, Marsaglia, Elena Curtoni, Merighetti, Schnarf, Stuffer and Goggia.

Saturday and Sunday's two races in Cortina will be broadcast live by RaiSport 1 and Eurosport.
