Olympia delle Tofane - Cortina d'Ampezzo

Kristian Ghedina, super test for the downhill

..and he presents his flying slipt

Date: 20/01/2016
Place: Cortina d'Ampezzo

"Now I'm an old man," whispers Kristian Ghedina, but for the Olympia delle Tofane slope and for the downhill course set of the Ladies' World Cup scheduled on Saturday at 10.15 am, there couldn’t be a more experienced tester.

The greatest Italian downhill skier of all times (13 Cup victories, of which the first on 3rd February 1990 on this same slope) has launched headlong and has also "signed" his downhill with a split on the last jump before the finish line.

"It's really nice and hard - explains Ghedina - prepared to perfection, the snow layer is almost uniform from start to finish. Tough, compact but not frozen. Where is the race decided? I tell you where you can lose. For example at the big counterslope bend immediately after the start, below the Pomedes hut: if you pass low you lose a lot. Then there is the first jump, if you shot hard you can land at 50 meters. Then the Scarpadon diagonal, after the great curve. There is always speed, so the key to a good result is to dare. But the important thing is for the girls to remain constantly focused, a distraction and it's over."

The first training run is scheduled tomorrow at 11.00.

Here are the evolutions of Ghedina during his downhill test (download here).
