Finally also in Cortina it's cold, but the Olympia delle Tofane slope which on 23rd and 24th January will host the downhill and superG of the Ladies' Ski World Cup was already in good condition and approved by the International Federation last week. Now the goal is to make it perfect.

The low temperatures (-19 degrees this morning) are allowing 40 snow machines to work round the clock to make uniform the snowpack, at present about 50 centimeters thick, on average. There are 60 people of the staff working on the Ampezzo' slope, supervised by Adolfo Menardi, chief of the race, plus 7 foremen and 6 snowcats with their drivers, who, in addition to be working to the snowy background, have placed 3.5 kilometers of Type A safety nets, and 7 km of Type B.

"It's all artificial snow - explains Menardi - that we also "plowed up" to allow it to take air and moisture, to become more compact. We will not perform any kind of strikethrough, is not necessary."

This morning, the French Jean Philippe Vulliet, the FIS Chief Race Director Assistant, has traces the downhill and on Wednesday the forerunners shall to test the quality of the marking.

Thursday 21 at 10.15 there will be the first official training run of the downhill, and a second official training will be on Friday at the same time.

At the weekend finally the races.
